what we have been doing in our work

In literacy we have been making little books with frog information in them.We put in them about frogs and the life cycle of how the frogs change from  little eggs to an adult frog which lays up to 1000 more eggs but only a few survive to full adulthood. This growing is called metamorphosis and is part of the life cycle of a frog.On one page we wrote about food.It eats, baby turtles, snakes and smaller frogs. When the eggs are born the tadpoles are born. They are in jelly eggs they eat their way out of their eggs then they stay on the side of their birthing place and then when they are older then that is when they move away from their birthing place. life cycles

This week, we have been learning about  frogs ,butterflies and grasshoppers life cycles .The frog starts off as a tadpole, the butterfly a caterpillar, and the grasshopper as a nymph. We have also done the life cycle of a flower which starts as a seed . There are many ways of how a seed starts off with. It could have been shot away to a different place, or it could of had some sort of parachute, such as a dandelion and many more.

Also we have been learning about rivers like how they start at the source and end at the sea . After all rivers and life cycles have been  fun lessons!

what we have been doing

Today we finished doing our life cycles about frogs. They were little booklets and they were amazing and really fun to make. We looked up information on the laptops about frogs so that we knew some more facts. Then we went out for play. When we came back in we had 5 minutes to perfect our little booklets that we made.

Also the day before we learned more about rivers. It was really fun as us all. We also watched a little clip on rivers so that we could write about it.

Life cycles

Recently, we have been doing  life cycles of frogs, butterflies and grasshoppers !   There are four stages for the butterfly and grasshopper they both start as an egg  then change to the next stage of their life. They don’t live long as their growing up takes ages . Frogs  change  through the stages differently to the butterfly and grasshopper!  We have done a leaflet of a frog.

Frogs

For the last few days,we have been creating an amazing frog fact book.

Individuals have been known to weigh almost a kilogram, and are unmistakable with their folds of skin. Those excessive skin folds have lent the species their nickname, Titicaca Scrotum Frog. Unfortunately it is also considered to be an aphrodisiac when mixed with honey, the roots of a local plant, and several other products, and consumed as a “thick shake”. They are also affected by habitat destruction and climate change, and their population is estimated to have decreased considerably over the past 20 years.

Can you name some frogs?
