This week we have been learning about Roald Dahl and his books, here are some of his most famous books Charlie and the chocolate factory ,Matilda,, the BFG and much much more . He started writing after he was in the RAF but he got shot in a plane and it crashed but he was fine. Today we looked at some of his characters from the magic finger Georges marvellous medicine ESIO TROT, The Twits, The witches we looked at the characters the setting and the plot. One day this week we had to draw our own made up character for fantastic Mr fox.
The next day we had to put about should foxes be allowed to steal chickens from the farmers but we had to do both sides of the argument the pros and the cons the yes and no . Roald Dahl had his own writing hut in their he had a ball with all of his chocolate wrappers which he kept over all the years that he had them for he always had one after dinner time before he went back down to his special place and did some more reading and writing also lots more drawings so he could show Quentin Blake. Then they could be in his new books to make them look much better and more exciteable for younger readers and for people who want to be illustrators when they are older for people who are still trying to be a better reader. We also read the first eight pages of the books to find out about the characters and the setting and plot.
The writing hut had lots of random pieces of paper with drawings he messed up on.Also he had his own hip bone in the hut he had this taken out and had a new one fitted this is one of the special reasons he liked it. This hut is a little shed at the end of his garden we he would go when he wasnt eating any other meals or had guests round to talk to him about his writing and how his writing was going and what his next book would be about. There is a special carnival this year for one hundred years of Roald Dahl to celebrate one of the best writers that the world has ever seen .
