Squash with Colin

On Tuesday the 17th of January year 4 learned  how to play squash. The man that did it with us was called Colin.First he taught us to hit the ball against the net.We learned forehand and backhand. To learn the forehand we played a little game. There were three lines in front  of the net.We stood in front of the net in between the first and second line, dropped the ball and hit it. If it bounced in front of the first line it was 2 points and if it landed in front of the second line it was worth 4 points and finally if it landed in front of the third line it was worth 6 points. After that we played a real game of squash. It was very fun and in my opinion forehand was easier.

Next we all got on to the bus. It was a very long journey and it was very boring me and Lexi played lots of games though. Soon we arrived at Lincoln Castle and we walked to the entrance we got into our groups and went inside. First of all we went with our leader Chris and all of our group made shields we had red paper and yellow paper and a wing template to make all the decorations to go on. Then once everyone had finished Chris showed us some of the Roman armour so helmet was galea and sword is gladius shield is scutum armour is lorica segmentata and sandals was calligae. Then we all went to another room and Jen showed us how to do an archaeology dig. We all had a tool to dig with and a space to dig in I found a funnel. Once we had done that we all got a clipboard and sketched our objects and then we labelled them. Then everybody went and found there label to match there object and display it. After that we went to another room and looked at some real Roman objects. Everybody went and got there lunch boxes and we had lunch. Next we went and did a wall walk with Lisa she showed us all lots of different pictures to do with the Romans. Then we all walked down a dark stairway to the entrance. We walked to a room and pretended to do a battle some people were Celts and some people were Romans I was a Roman. Then we went to get all of our things and lined up in our groups and our pairs. We all got on the bus and went back to school. Then everybody went to the centre of the entrance. We all went to find our mums and dads and then went home.
